Verbier Ski Holidays

Verbier has a certain pull. Snow-sure slopes, serious terrain, long, lazy lunches in the sun and some of the most beautiful chalets in the Alps. Add to that an easy transfer from Geneva, and it’s no surprise Verbier is the resort that seasoned skiers return to, year after year.

If you’re thinking about a Verbier ski holiday and want it to feel seamless from the moment you land, this guide walks you through the essentials – from ski areas and snow conditions to après-ski, non-ski activities and, crucially, where to stay. Throughout, I’ll highlight how we can help you find the right chalet and plan the details, so all you have to do is enjoy it.

Verbier Ski Resort

Verbier sits on a sunny plateau high above the village of Le Châble in the Val de Bagnes, in the Swiss canton of Valais. The main resort is compact enough to explore on foot, with free buses linking the different lift stations.

At a glance, the resort layout looks like this:

Place Centrale & main village - the social heart: shops, bars, restaurants and easy access to the Médran lift.

Médran - the key lift hub up to Les Ruinettes and into the main ski area.

Savoleyres - a separate area above resort, shared with La Tzoumaz, ideal for long, sunny runs.

Bruson - across the valley, quieter and more traditional, with excellent snow and tree skiing.

Le Châble - in the valley, linked by gondola and train, giving flexible access for those staying lower down.

When we’re planning your holiday, we take this layout into account and help you choose a chalet in the right part of town for how you actually want to ski and spend your time.

Skiing in Verbier

Verbier has a well-earned reputation as an intermediate and expert paradise – but it’s also carefully structured so that different levels can enjoy the mountain at the same time.

Ski areas for different abilities and snow conditions

Beginners & early intermediates
Les Esserts & Les Moulins – gentle nursery slopes close to resort, ideal for first turns and building confidence. Progression from here onto easy blues around La Chaux.

Confident intermediates
La Chaux & Lac des Vaux – wide, rolling pistes perfect for covering distance and improving technique.

Savoleyres / La Tzoumaz – quieter blue and red runs, a good choice in busy weeks.

Advanced & expert skiers
The famous itinerary runs – including Tortin and Vallon d’Arbi – plus the challenging slopes off Mont Gelé.

Mont Fort – for steep, often moguled skiing and big-mountain views.

Changeable weather & flat light
Bruson comes into its own on stormy days: tree runs, good visibility and usually fewer people.

Because we ski Verbier regularly, we can help you plan days that suit your group - whether that’s keeping everyone together on similar terrain, or mixing guided adventures with easier options for others.

Ski schools in Verbier

Good instruction makes a huge difference, especially in a resort with this much to offer.

We recommend a number of trusted partners, including:

Performance Verbier - for high-quality private coaching and guiding.

Powder Extreme - off-piste specialists for experienced skiers wanting to explore Verbier’s famous freeride terrain safely.

European Snowsports - a well-regarded ski school for private and group lessons. (link to all of these)

If you’d like lessons or guiding, we can handle the introductions and bookings so your plans are in place before you arrive.

Snowboarding in Verbier

Verbier is just as strong for snowboarders as it is for skiers:

Long, linked pistes give you space to cruise and really enjoy the terrain.

The snowpark at La Chaux offers jumps, rails and features for different levels.

Natural half-pipes, gullies and off-piste faces mean there’s always something new to ride, especially after fresh snow.

There are also snowboard-friendly instructors and guides in resort, and we can pair you with people who understand exactly how boarders like to move around the mountain.

Crèches in Verbier

Verbier works well for families – not just because of the skiing, but because the support on the ground is strong. You’ll find:

- Nursery areas right in resort, so younger children don’t have far to go.

- Children’s ski schools and clubs, which combine time on the snow with supervised play.

- Dedicated nanny and childcare services with Petit Verbier, including in-chalet care for babies and toddlers who are too young to ski.

When you enquire, let us know your children’s ages and how you like to manage childcare on holiday. We’ll recommend the right combination of ski school, crèche and in-chalet support, and liaise with providers on your behalf.

Whats new for the 2025 - 2026 season

Each season, Verbier raises the bar. New chalets are launched, existing favourites are refurbished, and wellness facilities become ever more impressive.

For 25-26 you can expect:

- Freshly updated interiors in some of the most popular chalets – new spa areas, cinema rooms and upgraded bedrooms.

- More wellness-focused properties, with gyms, treatment rooms and indoor-outdoor pools becoming standard at the top end.

- Additional flexible options - from part-service to fully catered with private chefs and hosts.

Because we’re in constant contact with chalet owners and operators, we can tell you what’s genuinely new and worth considering for your dates, rather than relying on outdated descriptions.

We can help you

Prioritise chalets right by key pistes or a short walk from Médran.

Balance location vs. facilities – perhaps accepting a slightly longer walk in exchange for a bigger spa or more bedrooms, or vice versa.

Arrange driver services where appropriate, so you’re whisked to and from the lifts with minimal effort.

Tell us how you like to ski (first lifts every day, or a more relaxed start?) and we’ll guide you towards the right area and property.
